Apparently MS has been ordered to stop selling MS Word version 2003 and 2007 any longer in it's current format come 60 days. The links with information is below, but apparently there is a "patent infringement" in regards to the XML code and changes with the new versions, using and manipulating file extensions of docx, xml, or docm; but mainly creating xml docs, or the modification thereof.
I am actually surprised this ruling was even handed down, not to mention the amount of money that was ordered for payment, which is really nothing compared to the loss of profit which could impact the bottom line if the ruling is carried out and not successfully overturned in appeals. Let's be honest with ourselves, this will drag out for maybe another two years and go away for some smile chunk of money. I would not expect any changes, these things are always so funny and useless.

Trend Micro OfficeScan 8.0 SP1 running on Windows 7
What a nightmare to say the least, but I just built my T400 Laptop with Windows 7 RC1 and had a terrible time getting Trend to run. I finally got it working by a few workarounds, steps below, hope it saves you some pain. I can give you detailed specs of my laptop if you like, but should not matter because it has been tested on other mfg and models. Kept receiving the error along the lines of
"Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, from vendor Trend Micro, Inc. has the following problem: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 has one or more drivers with known incompatiblities with this version of windows."
which would pop up and also appear in the event viewer.
Steps Taken To Resolve
1. Clean build, and I mean clean build of Windows 7 RC1, applying anyavailable updates from Microsoft, I believe there were 3.
2. Installed Trend Micro OfficeScan Client for Windows by simply browsing to Offiscan Serverand clicking the link below the login section to install the managed client.
3. Here is where the issue arises, the installation completes, but you get a "Driver Compatiblity" error for Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 portion of the install. When you look in event viewer, you should see the follow:Source: ApplicationExperienceInfrastEvent ID: 1General Description: The application (Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, from vendor Trend Micro, Inc.) has the following problem: Trend Micro Internet Secruity2008 has one or more drivers with known incompatibilities with this version of Windows. Please contact yoru software vendor Trend Micro, Inc. to obtaina compatible version of the drivers prior to installing this software.
You will also notice in services the OfficeScanNT RealTime Scan service will not start which points to the path for the executable Ntrtscan.exe.
4. I pretty much researched everything I could find on all the tech spots, google, etc. and no one seem to have the exact info I need, especially withWindows 7. I even contact Trend Support right off of there website contact info and they of course said they could not provide support fo Windows 7 RC1.
The fix!
Now the important part, you can try whatever you like, but without making this to long, to sum it up I tried just about everything from setting the Ntrtscan.exeexecutable file to run in compatiblity mode with Vista, etc., etc.
5. You need four files:
a. Ntrtscan.exe "file version 10.0.0.1169"
b. tmppreflt.sys "file version 8.950.0.1092"
c. tmxplft.sys "file version 8.950.0.1092"
d. VsapiNT.sys "file version 8.950.0.1092"
I got these by downloading two files from Trend's "Update Center" section of their website, the links below may be helpful:http://esupport.trendmicro.com/Pages/Performing-a-manual-update-or-rollback-of-the-OfficeScan-scan-engine.aspx#P27_919
File Name 1: VSAPI-KD-8.913-1006.ZIP (should contain files above b,c, and d)File Name 2: trvprotectia64en.exe (64 bit version of OfficeScan client edition, this is the executable I used for Ntrtscan.exe)
6. I stopped all Trend/Office Scan related services and killed the usual process for the Watchdog service, etc.
7. I then replaced all the files above into the install directory from Step 2 above and restarted the workstation.
8. I Ran the "Run programs made for previous version of Windows" option in Control Panel --> Programs --> and set Trend Micro Officescan to run as if running installed for Vista Service Pack 1.
9. Restarted workstation again, tested running update, etc. to corp install server and this resolved the issue. Should have your friendly Blue Icon letting you know you are protected, realtime running, etc.
Good Luck!
